Arusha, Tanzania
Day 1 - Arusha
I woke up early to took a Bolt ride to the 40-day overland truck camping tour meeting location by 6:30 am. It was only 0.8 miles from my hotel but my bags were too heavy to walk there. Bolt ride only costed $1.36 so I tipped the driver. It turned out only two campers out of the 19 travelers.
I managed to travel via Kenya by credit card (without changing or using local currency), and will do the same for the rest of African countries except traveling solo after the tour in South Africa, since the tour covers full room and board and I hate haggling with locals). Tanzania appears to be cleaner (less trash and smells on the streets) and more affluent than Kenya.
It was a bus day to leave Nairobi, Kenya and travel south to the Tanzanian border. After completing border formalities we continued to the busy town of Arusha, our base for the night. Northern Tanzania is home to the Serengeti, Ngorongoro and Kilimanjaro.
We had cheese and ham sandwich for lunch, and veg cream soup paired with beef spaghetti for dinner. There is free Wi-Fi in the bar of the lodge.
