 Day 2 - Karatu

We had a nice breakfast (2 eggs, sausages, beans, and toast), after viewing sunrise from a viewing tower. It was a short distance to Karatu, to spend most of the day commuting closer to the Ngorongoro Crater. On the way, we visited a supermarket for group meal materials, and a Tanzanite and art center. Unlike other gems like emeralds and diamonds, tanzanite is almost exclusively found in Northern Tanzania, so it is expensive. I was more interested in the flowers and plants in the center.
























Upon arrival in Karatu, we had lunch, and I set up my tent with local’s help, went swimming for half an hour, took a shower, did some laundry, charged my devices at the bar, had a dinner (leek potato soup, fried rice with curry chicken and stir fry vege), and used Wi-Fi at the reception counter office, before sleeping in my tent.

Bagamoyo

 Day 6 - Bagamoyo We headed out 5:30 am this morning as we journeyed south to our overnight stop in the coastal town of Bagamoyo. Formerly a centre point of the East African slave trade, Bagamoyo lies just north of the port of Dar es Salaam and is a perfect launching point for our upcoming Zanzibar Excursion. While today is primarily a travel day, we traveled via many small towns and mountains. Road travel in Africa is an experience in itself and the bustling markets, villages and scenic backdrops that line the routes give a window into the lifestyle of rural Africa. When our truck passed via the town, I got a glimpse of entrance portals of the homes which display intricate carvings with Arabic influence. View the aging German buildings. Maasai Mara, Kenya 3-day tour

Day 1: Nairobi - Masai Mara I was picked up from Nairobi CBD in the morning and then joined the group of 7 to drive to Masai Mara through The Great African Rift Valley escarpment through Masai Town Narok. We arrived at the camp after 6-hr drive for lunch and checked in at the camp and rest. We had an Afternoon game drive as from 4:30– 6:30 through the park and saw  lions, Cheetahs, Buffalo, giraffes, hyenas, wildebeests, zebras, gazelles, antelopes, plus other animals. After dinner, we had a bon fire at  Lenchada budget camp Masai Mara. I booked this tour via a trusted friend’s referral. It costed $380 for single occupancy, and $340 for double occupancy. If you have time to book the tour after arriving in Nairobi, you can save $40. It is rather hard to drive 4x4 in the park and rental cars are expensive, so I recommend taking the tour.
