Zanzibar II
























We complete the short journey into Dar es Salaam this morning and board our ferry for the two hour trip to Zanzibar. After arriving at the ferry port we board make our way to Nungwi on the northern shores of the island. The time is yours to relax and do as you please.

Today is a free day to enjoy some of the many attractions and activities on offer. Water sports are the order of the day and Nungwi offers fishing, snorkelling, scuba diving and a variety of ocean safari options. Whatever it is you chose to do today, you will have ample opportunity to create some island memories. Rent a scooter and explore the many attractions on offer or simply relax on the beach and soak up the sun.

In Kendwa, you can enjoy white sand beaches, and swim and snorkel in the crystal clear waters of the Indian Ocean. Fishing trips and cruises in traditional dhows can be organized. Scuba diving and snorkeling to nearby reefs or further afield including to Mnemba Atoll can also be arranged from the Dive Centre near our beach cottages.

There is a wide diversity of marine life off Zanzibar. The diving is some of the best in the world, with stunning coral gardens and more than 350 fish species recorded. Sightings of dolphins and turtles are quite regular occurrences, while humpback whales and whale sharks are occasionally spotted.
You can also explore Jozani Forest and see the red colobus monkeys and Prison Island with its giant tortoise. Snorkelling is also enjoyed off Prison Island.

This morning our visit to Nungwi comes to an end as we transfer by road to Stone Town. Before we arrive in Stone Town, we will stop along the way to enjoy a guided walking spice tour, which passes through villages and spice plantations. You will be able to witness first-hand how spice farm workers climb the trees and seek out specific plants and will have the opportunity to purchase fresh spices directly from these farms. Boasting a rich history this busy port of Stone Town was once a landmark on both the Slave and Spice trade routes.

Maasai Mara, Kenya 3-day tour

Day 1: Nairobi - Masai Mara I was picked up from Nairobi CBD in the morning and then joined the group of 7 to drive to Masai Mara through The Great African Rift Valley escarpment through Masai Town Narok. We arrived at the camp after 6-hr drive for lunch and checked in at the camp and rest. We had an Afternoon game drive as from 4:30– 6:30 through the park and saw  lions, Cheetahs, Buffalo, giraffes, hyenas, wildebeests, zebras, gazelles, antelopes, plus other animals. After dinner, we had a bon fire at  Lenchada budget camp Masai Mara. I booked this tour via a trusted friend’s referral. It costed $380 for single occupancy, and $340 for double occupancy. If you have time to book the tour after arriving in Nairobi, you can save $40. It is rather hard to drive 4x4 in the park and rental cars are expensive, so I recommend taking the tour. Bagamoyo

 Day 6 - Bagamoyo We headed out 5:30 am this morning as we journeyed south to our overnight stop in the coastal town of Bagamoyo. Formerly a centre point of the East African slave trade, Bagamoyo lies just north of the port of Dar es Salaam and is a perfect launching point for our upcoming Zanzibar Excursion. While today is primarily a travel day, we traveled via many small towns and mountains. Road travel in Africa is an experience in itself and the bustling markets, villages and scenic backdrops that line the routes give a window into the lifestyle of rural Africa. When our truck passed via the town, I got a glimpse of entrance portals of the homes which display intricate carvings with Arabic influence. View the aging German buildings. It was almost 6 pm when we arrived, so I did not check out the town. The coast is much more hot and humid, yet it is fall so the temperature cools down to 60sf (still ok to sleep in a tent).
