Brandberg White Lady

Day 31 - Brandberg White Lady

We drove further into the Namibian desert today, and the first stop was a small village with cow-head hat ladies and some naked ladies with dark red skin selling handy craft. The second and main stop was White Lady UNESCO site (one of more than 45,000 rock paintings in the Brandberg area with patragraph of 2000 yr old) about 1 mile round trip walk via the area without rain for the last three years. The Brandberg (Burning Mountains) are the highest in Namibia.  The black shaman dancing in white sand thus caught white sand all over his skin) was misinterpreted as a white lady by a white venturer, and become famous as so. There are even older Huambo features at top left corner yet faded. There are also animals on the same rock face.

The walk traverses rough terrain along the gorge of the normally dry Tsisab River.  Due to one group member physical conditions, the 2-hr walk turned into 3 hours, we then had lunch and headed to the camp lodge. The lodge had a nice pool and great sunset views.
