Central Kalahari District

Day 26 – Central Kalahari District

We departed early this morning in our 4x4 vehicles via bumpy and sand roads, and made our way to Maun, where upon arrival some of up went on an optional scenic flight over the Okavango Delta.   In Maun, we re-united with our Nomad truck and had lunch. For those opted out the flight, we shopped in a stripe mall near the airport for food, snacks, and whatever we need. I got an adapter for South Africa (also used in Namibia and Botswana), and a pair of sweatpants (as it gets colder when we head south).

After we got the flight people back, we continued our journey towards the Ghanzi district in the central Kalahari. Tonight we were introduced to the San culture, well known for its rich traditions of song, dance and story-telling. The nomadic San are hunter-gatherers that have passed down a rich knowledge of the plants and animals that play such an important part in their lifestyle.
