Keetmanshoop and Giants Playground/Quiver Tree Forest

Day 36 – Keetmanshoop and Giants Playground/Quiver Tree Forest

After breakfast, we packed up and turned east and head for Keetmanshoop lodge. After lunch, we visited the Giants Playgrounds, named for the way in which the massive dolerite boulders have been placed on each other- creating rock formations and a series of mazes. Then we visited the Quiver Tree Forest Rest Camp to see the cheetahs feeding. They were rescued as babies and now 3-4 years old. The last stop of the day was the Quiver Tree Forest.  Contrary to belief, the quiver tree is not really a tree, but a plant that can grow to between 200 – 300 years old. We saw a lot of rock rabbits there.
