Lusaka, Malawi (capital)

 Day 19 - Lusaka

Today was another bus day to push closer to Victoria Falls. As an important link between Lusaka and neighbouring Malawi, the Great East Road winds through rural Zambia and we crossed the Luangwa River on our way to Lusaka. The route was dotted with villages and farms.

We stayed at Lusaka, the capital of Zambia. It is a cosmopolitan city that is home to approximately 10% Zambians. For a city of its size, Lusaka has relatively few attractions, but very westernized malls. It appears to be cleaner and more modern than Nairobi, Kenya. We had African grill combination of chicken, pork, and sausage for dinner.

Eureka Camp has in house animals that are not shy with people, such as zebras, antelopes, etc. They freely grazed in the camp. I set up my tent in a shelter with lights and power outlet. Lusaka is located at the center of Zambia and 1200 meters above sea level,so it was cold tonight. We were too tired to conduct a farewell drink party after our last dinner of the 20-day Nairobi-Vic Falls tour. For this tour, there were 19 confirmed clients, 16 of which were accommodated clients, and 3 were campers (including me). The ages range from 22 to 74.
