Victoria Falls II
Day 21 - Victoria Falls
Victoria Falls, located on the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe, is one of the three largest waterfalls in the world and in the World Heritage List. Locals call it Mosi Otuna, which means smoke that thunders like a thunderbolt.
Due to the obstruction of the Dangjiang River on Livingstone Island, the waterfall is divided into five sections, forming Devil's Falls, Main Falls, Horseshoe Falls, Rainbow Falls and East Falls.
The bustling adventure town of Victoria Falls offers a range of optional activities (such as whitewater rafting on the Zambezi, the bungee jump and the gorge swing, etc.) for those wanting a dose of adrenaline, but not for me. I had a relaxed day, starting from a hearty breakfast, exploring craft markets around town and shopping for activities. After lunch, I walked to the border bridge to get a good look of the Victoria Falls. My friend showed me the photos he took during today his helicopter ride and yesterday Victoria Falls National Park walk (too close to the falls this too misty to see the falls but got socking wet). We both agreed the Bridge Walk provides the best views and it is free.
I tried one local beer, then swam in the clear yet cold swimming pool for 30 min, showered, and did my laundry. Tonight, we had a Boma dinner of special African meal prepared by a local crew with African decorations and food presentation of over 10 dishes, as well beginning and ending singing and dancing.
